Jackson Cooper Law, PLLC, Opens to Fill Gap in Representation for Louisville Tenants

LOUISVILLE, Ky - Jackson Cooper, JD, today announced the opening of his legal practice, Jackson Cooper Law, PLLC. The firm’s areas of practice include criminal defense, representing victims of domestic violence, civil litigation, and nonprofit law, but the motivation for the firm’s creation is the scarcity of attorneys willing and able to represent tenant interests in the Metro area.

“Louisville’s housing crisis has created an imbalance of power between landlords and tenants,” said Cooper, who has enjoyed recent success at trial on behalf of renters. “An unscrupulous landlord with the resources to engage the courts can, unfortunately, make it very difficult for a tenant to afford adequate representation. Property owners who don’t keep their rentals in good repair or who try to outright cheat their tenants out of their hard-earned dollars have the upper hand, and Louisville renters are left with few options if they want to have a roof over their heads.”

Cooper is an attorney with 13 years of experience practicing law in Kentucky. He served as an Assistant County Attorney for ten years, gaining significant trial experience and a deep understanding of the court system. Three of those ten years were spent in the Domestic Violence unit, seeking justice for survivors and holding their abusers accountable. He also spent the last two years representing tenants against abusive landlords who failed to provide their renters with safe, healthy homes, charged illegal fees, refused to return security deposits, and wrongfully evicted Kentuckians.

Cooper is driven to seek justice for people who have been mistreated, bullied, or abused by people who use their power to take advantage of others. Jackson Cooper Law will work to balance the scales of power through the court system.
